It’s weird and cool and you thought it would suck and it does but it’s also AWESOME. Now, I am GROWN ASS MAN AND OR WOMAN. What do people do now. Now that they are adults. What am I yearning for. What makes humans Humans? I grew up in a family, and now, I may or may not be close to them but it is time for me to make my own damn family. What is Family? Well shit, let’s look it up. It’s someone who is related to you, by Blood or Marriage or Adoption. That’s what FAMILY IS. I’m a grown ass man / woman. And I want to make my own family. I am gay. By default, gay couples don’t produce babies. I already have blood relations and isn’t lookin like I’ll be making any of my very own. Not without costly medical procedures and lawyers involved anyway, but shit, I’m young and ain’t quite there YET. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. So, I am seeing someone, and we’re serious. Somehow, I already love them unconditionally and would walk from Seattle to Philly if they asked me to. They are my partner. PARTNER. In crime, and every other way a human can be a partner to a human. I love them. I want to be with them, forever. They are my Family. Not technically, but I feel it in my bones. I think I want to really do it. Join them. Join us. Bond us. Together, forever. We are in it to win it and it’s us against the world. A united front. MY. FUCKING. FAMILY. Shit. I can have a union. And we can SAY we are in it. And we can FEEL in it. And behave in it. For the rest of our lives. A minister can join us under the eyes of God. We could be hand-fasted under the full moon. We have committed our very beings to each other. But. But, our marriage, our union, our joining, our vow to each other, our love collective of 2, isn’t recognized by the state. SO FUCKING WHAT? MY love is FOREVER, FUCK THE STATE!? No, wait, shit. I actually NEED the state. What if he / she is in the hospital? And I need to fucking see them? Fuck??!?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN I AM NOT FAMILY. I AM FAMILY. FUCK YOU LET ME SEE HIM / HER. oh. i am not a spouse? because the GOVERNMENT says so? What? Excuse me? WHY? What the fuck? We Are Family. FUCK THE GOVERNMENT, THIS IS MY FAMILY. And since the gov’ment doesn’t recognize our join, you are refusing me from my FAMILY!? So, family and spouses, get certain, specific rights, that non-family do not get. Special. Special rights. And only man/woman joins are recognized by the state? OK. I see how it is. I see. “HETERONORMATIVE”, as they are oft called, HUMANS GET SPECIAL RIGHTS. And I don’t get the same rights to my FAMILY because the STATE doesn’t think that WE ARE ACTUALLY A FUCKING FAMILY? What? I’m just a fucking person. A human. I made my family. The STATE won’t recognize it and now YOU ARE FUCKING WITH MY FAMILY. That will NOT be TOLERATED. YOU DO NOT FUCK WITH MY FAMILY. I WILL BURN THIS COUNTRY DOWN.

Marriage. It’s a CIVIL matter. And a CIVIL right. A mass-murdering, child killing, divorcee spending his life in prison, gets to marry whomever he choses, whenever he chooses because IT’S A BASIC CIVIL RIGHT. So precious and sacred that any scum fuck shit of the earth is able to do it but not, little old me, and my gay gay self and my gay gay partner.

They say: “Equal rights, not special rights”. Well, NO. Not exactly. Marriage provides special rights. Why? Because FAMILY IS SPECIAL. Family is DIFFERENT. It’s not anyone you may know. IT’S SOMEONE YOU ARE CONNECTED TO FOR LIFE. FAMILY. It’s precious. I happen to be gay. Denying me from making and recognizing A FAMILY IS VIOLATING MY CIVIL RIGHTS.

IF YOU RECOGNIZE MARRIAGES AT ALL, YOU HAVE TO RECOGNIZE MINE AS WELL. FUCK YOU FOR NOT.

/I KNOW there are a lot more issues regarding the issue as a whole. Namely … RELIGION and tradition and other bullshit that I do not find important but where it really hits home, and what really infuriates me is when the state has ANY fucking say over FAMILY.
